The company was first established in 1981 as a joint venturte sudnese italian manufacturing company registered as "makkawi cars & lorries spring co. Ltd" in Sudan. In 2005 it acquired a new Indian partner and changed its name to "umc & makkawi spring manufacturing co. Ltd. And doubled its capital.
Since it rehabilitated and upgraded its plant. Its presently engaged in the installation of an additional production line. Hence it hopes to increase its production from 600 MT tons of laminated multileaf springs to 2000 MT tons in 2006 and up to 3000 MT. Tons in 2007.
